It is 15 of March 2017 I am sitting in an office with glass walls patiently looking at my manager. She looks sad and has a slight tremor when she passes me a large envelop. “I am really sorry” she says visibly distressed by the whole situation.
I experience a slight shock on the inside but trying to keep it together focusing on my breath. I am thanking her and commenting on how sad she looks. She responds that it has been a really difficult day for everyone. I am responding with “this is not your fault its just life”.
The HR girl walks me through the content of the envelop which says that my job no longer exists. The job that I strived for to get, worked countless hours after sunset and weekends when everybody apart from me enjoyed their lives. Seeing the payout figure made it even more surreal mixed with a feeling of rejection – I am let go but its not a proverbial boot but more of a fancy designer vacation shoe.
I walk out of the office where my team mates sitting in the chairs some nervously pacing around empty desks waiting for their turn. To answer their inquisitive l boldly declare – “I got what I wanted” – still in disbelief that this just happened.
And this is how my new life begins. In the weeks to come I realised that my bold words were accurate and I am drunk with my newly acquired freedom. I can now spend time reading, building my online business and learn how to help those in need to create a life for themselves. The life where they do not need to douse themselves with alcohol to cope with unhappiness of work. The life that fills you with joy, gives a sense of purpose and make you appreciate the gift that you were given. I want to make a path through the unknown terrain to the top of the mountain and show the way to the others.
This blog is about my journey and inspiration that I receive from the world and people that surround me to continue. And it is also a blog that hopefully change someone else’s life while I am changing mine.
